Facebook Lite is a simplified version of Facebook created for users with lower bandwidth, particularly those in the developing world. It is currently being tested in India and the United States but is expected to soon be available to all Facebook users who are sick of nonsensical applications clogging up their news feeds. Facebook Lite is a throwback for original Facebook users as it is quite reminiscent of the original site. For this reason, Facebook Lite is not only popular with those with lower bandwidth who have trouble getting the over-produced pages to load, but also for all who appreciate a simple social networking tool that cannot be overwhelmed with friends wanting you to help them grow their virtual gardens or join their vampire coven.
o Access Facebook Lite by going to the link in the resources section at the bottom of this page. You will sign in to Facebook Lite with the same username and password you use to sign into the regular Facebook because it will still be considered the same account. If you do not already have a Facebook account, you will need to create one at this time to be able to access Facebook Lite.
o Scroll through the page that appears after signing in to Facebook Lite. This is your new news feed. You will notice that it is much less bogged down with applications and therefore much easier to see and read information posted by your friends that may be of real interest to you.
o Click on "Profile" at the top of the screen next to the Facebook symbol. This will take you to your new and improved Facebook Lite profile. Your wall will appear first and you will then be able to click on to your Info, Friends, and Photos & Videos pages from the links underneath your Facebook Lite profile picture.
o Continue writing on the walls of friends, sending messages, uploading and tagging photos and videos, and creating events as usual with Facebook Lite. Your friends will be able to view your information regardless of whether you are using Facebook Lite or the standard version.
o Switch from Facebook Lite to regular Facebook and back to Facebook Lite again at any time. You can do so by logging in through the lite and standard versions of the site as you choose.
