- Create online ads targeting a specific group. Maybe you publish chick lit books geared to young women and want to attract teen and college age buyers. Buy and place ads on appropriate Facebook pages to reach your specific audience. With billions of page impressions per month, it's well worth the time and investment
- Use the Facebook user applications to publicize your business or project. By creating an application such as "My Favorite Movie" and allowing other Facebook users to access it, you'll add anywhere from a few hundred to a few million people to view your product or service. While the application model isn't as straightforward as paid advertising, it can bring money to you through pay-per-click and revenue share.
- Coordinate your Facebook page with affiliate programs on other sites. If you have a book, DVD or CD, use an Amazon button to drive people to the "buy" page for your product. Or use a generic affiliate program that gives you a certain amount of money every time somewhere clicks through to an Amazon item through your page.
- Set up a Café Press account to sell your own T-shirts, coffee mugs or other items. Include a link on your Facebook page. A CafePress account requires no money up front and you're paid a percentage every time someone orders your swag.
- Use eBay to pitch your product. Once again, use links and messages to let your friends know what you're selling on eBay. If you have homemade products, use Etsy to sell them, or try Deviant Art if you paint or draw. You'll get your creative work out there, and make money in the process.
