Troubleshooting: how to restore email password

When you create a new password, write it down somewhere only you can see it. If possible, email it to one of your email addresses, then put it in a saved folder. After about a week, you should remember it and can now get rid of papers or emails that contain the password. Choose something that you will easily remember, but not something other people will easily guess. Passwords can be remembered easier if you use the same one for all of your accounts.
If it does not work try following instructions----

Gmail

Start by going to gmail.com. Click on the link below the password box that says "Can't access your account?" Select the option that says "I forgot my password." Then click the link that says "Password Recovery Page." Enter your username and the captcha, and then click "Submit." Your password will be sent to your secondary email address. If there is none, you will have to wait 24 hours and try again. This time when you reach this point, your security question will appear. Answer the question and click "Submit." If you answered incorrectly, a form will appear for you to request additional help. If you answered correctly, you will be able to create a new password. This is the password you will use for all future logins. Gmail does not have a telephone number for customer support.

Yahoo Mail

Go to Yahoomail.com. Click the link on the left that says "I can't access my account." Select "I forgot my password" and click "Next." Enter your username and the captcha. Click "Next." If you choose to enter your alternate email, your password will be sent there. If you cannot access your alternate email, select the second option on this page that says "I can't access any of the above." You will be asked a few personal questions and taken to a page that will ask your security question. If you answer correctly, you will be able to reset your password with a new one. If you do not know the answer, you can contact the Yahoo customer service team by calling their toll-free number, 1-800-318-0631 or 1-877-722-3755 and they may be able to help.

Hotmail

Go to hotmail.com and click on the "Forgot your password?" link located under the sign in box. This
will take you to a page to reset your password. Enter your email address and the captcha, then click
"continue." You can choose to verify your location and answer your secret question to reset your
password, or have the reset link sent to your alternate email address. If neither of these options work,
you can contact customer service by calling 1-800-386-5550
