Many people have reported less than desirable data transfer speeds to USB drives in Windows Vista or XP Sometimes the slower speed is due to configuration issues in the motherboard Bios of the computer or a damaged USB cable or driver issues. However, in most cases, the low transfer speed can be attributed to a simple configuration .Once you make the change below, USB transfer speeds should improve dramatically.
Instructions
1.First, click Start then double click Computer and when the Computer window is open, right click on the icon for the USB drive you have plugged into the computer, and then in the drop down menu click Properties, and then click the Hardware tab.
2.Now, under All Disk Drives, click to highlight your USB drive and then click to select Properties.
3.Next, click on the Policies tab and then select the Optimize for Performance and then click Ok to exit.
